BalanceAdapt™
Found on Signature and Cross base models, this system allows the seat to respond to your body's micro-movements with a gentle, natural rocking motion. The sitting angle adjusts continuously as you shift — and Sleep Mode lets you recline to a full 180°.
Glide™ System
Set the tension once for your body weight — then adjust your recline angle simply by shifting your posture. No levers, no buttons, no interruption. The chair responds to you, not the other way around. Combined with 360° swivel on most models.

Stressless® Comes in Three Body Sizes
This is one of the most important things most people don't know — Stressless® fits your body, not just your room. Getting the size right is what makes it truly yours.
Small
Proportionally scaled for petite frames. The same full Stressless® experience — just sized so the lumbar and headrest hit the right places on a smaller body.
Medium
The most common size. Fits most adults and works in most rooms. If you're unsure, start here — our team will confirm the fit when you come in.
Large
A broader seat, deeper back, and taller headrest position. Proportionally correct for a larger frame to get the same full ergonomic benefit.

Everything You Want to Know Before You Come In
The Plus™ System is the patented mechanism that automatically adjusts the headrest forward as you recline — keeping your neck properly supported at every angle. At the same time, it maintains correct lumbar contact throughout the recline range. No other recliner on the market does this. It's why Stressless® has been endorsed by chiropractors for decades and why people with back and neck problems find so much relief in these chairs.
The Classic Base is the original Stressless® wood hourglass base — warm, traditional, and available on virtually every model. It includes the Plus™ System and Glide™ System. The Signature Base adds BalanceAdapt™ technology — a gentle rocking motion that adjusts to your micro-movements — plus a deeper recline range and full 180° Sleep Mode. It also has a more contemporary aesthetic with a wood-and-aluminum frame. Both are excellent; the Signature is a step up in technology and price.
Size isn't about fitting in the chair — it's about where the lumbar support and headrest contact your body. Small fits most people under 5'4" and 150 lbs. Medium fits most people between 5'4" and 6'0" and 130–200 lbs. Large fits most people over 6'0" or over 200 lbs. The only way to be sure is to sit in all three side by side — which is exactly what our Foscoe showroom is set up for.
Absolutely. Stressless® offers a wide range of leather grades and fabric options in dozens of colors. Custom orders ship from Ekornes in Norway — typical lead time is 12–16 weeks. Quick-ship colors available in the US warehouse typically arrive in 2–4 weeks. We carry sample books for every option and will help you match to your room.
Ekornes guarantees the internal mechanism for 10 years from the date of purchase. Leather and fabric upholstery is covered for 1 year. Battery units on LegComfort™ models are covered for 2 years. Warranty claims must be processed through an authorized retailer — as your Ekornes dealer, we handle this directly on your behalf so you never have to navigate it alone.
Our Stressless® collection requires dedicated showroom space to display all models, sizes, and bases properly. Our Foscoe destination store on HWY 105 South is designed exactly for this — a comfortable, unhurried environment where you can take your time and try everything. It's a 15–20 minute drive from Boone, and most customers tell us it's the best furniture decision they've ever made.
